Maybe you think that high blood pressure is something that you don’t need to worry about. If you are
diagnosed with high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, you need to be aware of some things.

How to know for sure if you have high blood pressure?

The best way to find out if you have hypertension, or high blood pressure as most of the people call it, is
to visit your doctor. If you go to your doctor regularly and you are diagnosed with high blood pressure,
you can be treated. And if you are treated on time you can avoid big health problems.
The other way people find out about this is they have a heart attack or something alike. But you should
check yourself before something like that happens. It is not that hard to take care of yourself. And if you
go to your doctor he can also find out if you have prehypertension, and that can be taken care off too.

What is prehypertension?

You can be diagnosed with prehypertension if your levels fall between 120/80 and 139/89, that means
that your blood pressure is higher than normal rates, but it still isn’t too high.

If you are diagnosed with prehypertension, that isn’t a bad thing. That means that you caught it early
enough, and you can treat it. This condition increases your risk of heart diseases, but you now can have
control over your blood pressure before it causes you problems with health.

Is high blood pressure dangerous?

Simply put, it is. Even if you are feeling okay with high blood pressure it doesn’t mean that it isn’t
causing you problems with your heart and health. People often don’t present symptoms, and they don’t
know they have a problem. And if you do know that you have high blood pressure and you are
prescribed with treatment and you don’t follow it as your doctor advised you to do, that is also
dangerous. If you do not take your treatment, you can get a heart attack, stroke or even diabetes. Not
treating high blood pressure can cost you your life.
